Junior Editor
Purpose of the Role
We are seeking a creative and organised multitasker to join our busy and friendly editorial team. You’ll have some editorial experience and a demonstrable passion for children’s books, crafts, games and toys. As well as meticulous attention to detail, proofreading, and strong writing skills, you’ll bring curiosity to the role and the flexibility to learn, think and do things differently. With one eye on the market, you’ll be able to spot the next big thing before it becomes big, and you’ll enjoy connecting with people to bring ideas to life, from in-house designers, editors, production, sales and marketing departments, to external freelancers, licensors and more. Main Responsibilities
- Support the Lead Editor with proofreading, file checking and research projects
- Research and report on market trends to drive editorial innovation in books, crafts, games and toys
- Work closely with the Design team to project manage a list of book, toy, licensed and craft titles
- Alongside the rest of the team, assist with PTP checks and plotter approvals to share workloads, hit deadlines, and create the time and space to produce exceptional products
- Test craft concepts and models and suggest edits and improvements where appropriate
- Liaise with internal departments, including Design, Production, Sales and Procurement
- Work with the Lead Editor to commission and edit content for an exciting and wide-ranging list of formats
- Establish and maintain an awareness of the children’s book market, media, marketing and competitor activity across books, toys, and games, engaging with relevant sales and marketing reports
Skills & Experience
- An organised and creative self-starter with a passion for children’s books, toys and craft products
- At least one year’s editorial experience
- An understanding of the children’s book, craft, toy and game markets, and the willingness to work proactively to grow your knowledge of these areas and engage in research to spot key trends
- A meticulous eye for detail
- Strong copywriting and proofreading skills
- Exceptional organisational skills and proven experience in managing multiple projects at once
- Excellent communication in all areas of customer service, including phone conversations, written communication and digital responses

- Positive can-do attitude within a fast-changing environment
